Search professionals know that an increase in competition in search engines typically means higher CPC’s; unfortunately an increase in entry-level SEO professionals means lower salaries for search professionals according to the new SEMPO Salary Survey. According to Nathan Safran (Director of Research for Conductor) there was a bit of a decrease in compensation for execs at the top, it’s likely that the influx of new, lower-salaried employees lowered the average. He also mentions, “A lot of folks who are successful were self-taught” which I can personally attest to as there weren’t any digital marketing classes, let alone search engine marketing classes, when I was in college. Cheers to the vets and the rookies!
